For more than a decade, I served in the U.S. military—most of that time spent supporting operations under Special Operations Command. Like many others, I deployed, I served, I sacrificed. And then one day, it was over. A medical retirement cut my journey short due to injuries I won’t go into here.
But when I came home and the dust settled, I realized something unsettling:
I had almost nothing to remember it all by.
No shadow box. No framed unit guidon. No photos of my team.
Just a tattered hat with my unit logo and a single faded t-shirt. That was it.
Most of my rotations were low-key. One deployment, I was even a singleton—attached solo to a mission far from my home unit. There wasn’t time for group photos, matching morale shirts, or big ceremonial send-offs. And when I got out, I felt that absence deeply.
That’s when Weekly Forged Prints was born.
